What we do
The group works collectively to raise awareness, influence those implementing clinical academic careers, and develop practical tools to help employing organisations. The AUKUH group has published a number of resources so far, including a Pathway Capability Framework (role descriptors for different seniorities in post), case studies in the HSJ, a study into the research tensions for joint NHS-HEI projects and we were named by the Shape of Caring report as a key partner in taking forward the recommendations. We continue to work closely with HEE and NIHR on a number of projects, including mapping the existing research workforce and developing a toolkit for employers.
Annual Report 2011-2012 (published June 2013)
This executive report summarises details of activity undertaken between May 2011 and June 2012, focusing on a review of:
- The Finch report
- Nursing and midwifery clinical academic local training schemes
- Current clinical academic workforce, and
- Development of a clinical academic pathway, principles and required population. The group explored the background, initiatives, progress and future recommendations to further develop and sustain research activity, building on and maximising the NMAHP clinical academic research contribution to improved quality, safety and efficiency healthcare agenda within the UK.
