Academic Health Science Centres announced

Alan Johnson announced the successful Academic Health Science Centres (AHSCs) following peer review by an international panel of experts. The AHSCs will be well-placed to compete on the world stage for talent and funding, with economic benefits for the UK as a whole.


Successful bids include eight Association of UK University Hospital (AUKUH) member Trusts; Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, Kings College NHS Foundation Trust, Central Manchester & Manchester Children's Hospital NHS Trust, University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust, University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

AUKUH and the Medical Schools Council held a joint meeting entitled ‘Academic Healthcare in a Changing World: Positioning for Success’ in May 2008.
